I’ve thought about trying to port Ecosport suspension in for a lift.

Rieger suspension. Hit a pothole at 100km/h? No problem

I’d have to drop it to the 15 inch rims. Sparcos, probably.

These are prime candidates for the head gasket issues. Upgraded gaskets seem to solve the issue. Otherwise, timing belt change should be investigated (should be done at ~170K km / 105K miles). Look to see if it’s in the service history, and if the idler pulleys, tensioner, water pump, and thermostat were done at the same time.

Also, I believe t hese were part of the control arm rust recall (not sure of Canada was included). Regardless, check the front control arms for rust.

It’s Canada, of course rust was an issue. And this is me humouring a bad idea, I can’t go through with it (yet).

We’ve got a year 2000 version. Original owner. 275,000 km. Original clutch, original head gaskets, new radiator, new front CVs, new droplinks and control arm bushes, upgraded suspension, bull bar, underbody armour...no rust. The engine is a bit tired of going up hills but doesn’t use oil. It’s not worth $3500 and it’s not getting sold. We are planning on rebuilding the 2.0 litre engine, replacing the clutch and  overhauling the gearbox and carrying on for another couple of decades.

Not too expensive either, I would consider a set for my winter tires. Well all seasons but we call them Winters
